PURPOSE

The Red List Project (TRLP) is pioneering a completely new approach to global plant conservation critical to healing our planet and restoring natural ecological and evolutionary processes. Solutions to the multiple current crises of species extinctions, particularly dire in the light of accelerating climate change, are woefully under-funded. TRLP is a nonprofit collective that raises impact philanthropic donations and helps generate conservation funding through collaborations with consumer products industry partners, grounded upon scientific consensus and global biodiversity conservation concepts. These partnerships include developing fragrances and fragranced products based on the floral signatures of threatened plant species selected from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Plants®, as well as new products based upon the plant communities that define the 36 accepted global Biodiversity Hotspots.

TRLP has an exciting new partnership with Blocki Perfume Company, headquartered in Colorado USA. Our team has successfully worked with Blocki to envision a reformulation of their heritage fragrance Brazilian Lily, launched Summer 2023. Blocki's singular vision and strong commitment to celebrating and re-envisioning one of its historic scents fit seamlessly with The Red List Project's conservation activities in Brazil, led by Dr. Luiza de Paula.

Blocki Perfume Company has returned to the company's roots, i.e., the eponymous fragrance company established by John Blocki in 1865. Today Blocki sources its ingredients from an essential oil supplier in continuous operation for six generations. All ingredients are of the highest quality and sustainably sourced. Perfumes are cruelty-free and do not contain animal products, parabens, pthalates, or artificial colors.

MISSION

Our mission is to inspire plant conservation action and engagement on a global scale. Together with our environmental conservation and consumer products partners, we initiate projects not only to raise awareness of mounting threats to the planet’s botanical diversity but also to generate funds for targeted conservation of threatened plants and the ecosystems in which they thrive. Through these conservation activities, we provide a platform for sustainability-committed businesses, impact investors and consumers to join in stewardship of our planet’s irreplaceable botanical legacy.

conservation promise

No plant species are harvested commercially from the wild nor are any wild lands harmed. Product collaborations are developed using both natural and synthetic materials, with the IUCN Red List threatened plant and associated species propagated by in-country or regional botanical gardens, conservation NGOs, or both for reintroduction back into their native habitats. These efforts are conducted in close collaboration with sustainability-focused consumer product and global suppliers. All product collaborations are with like-minded brands whose mission and purpose include protection of the planet, sustainability, and environmentally responsible practices.
